This year, Expat Capital with its licensed wealth management company Expat Asset Management, is celebrating 15 years on the financial services market.
We are proud that for these 15 years we have managed to build one of the strongest investment teams in Central and Eastern Europe, with education and experience from North America, Europe, and Asia.
We have created a global partnership network which gives us global reach, superior asset custodian setup and access to investment opportunities in all markets worldwide. We are proud of our long-term business relations with 50+ brokers from over 20 countries, 15+ banks, 5 established depository banks, international securities depositories, stock exchanges, market makers, regulatory authorities, index operators, law firms, information agents, and other institutions in Europe and the world. This give us the opportunity to offer a large scope of first-class investment services one can find at the major international asset managers, with added flexibility and a more personal touch. Expat is the only company in Bulgaria to use 5 international depository banks for the safekeeping of the clients’ assets.
Innovation has become our trade mark. Expat is the only company to the east of Frankfurt and to the west of Hong Kong with its own funds being listed on 4 European stock exchanges. Expat is one of the 30 ETF operators on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, as well as on the London Stock Exchange and it is the only Bulgarian company with instruments on these markets. We manage 18 funds, among which:
- A family of 11 exchange traded funds (ETFs) listed on the Bulgarian and the Frankfurt stock exchanges. Some of them are also listed in London and Ljubljana. Expat’s ETFs are the only Bulgarian instruments with access to Clearstream – one of the world’s largest securities depositories.
- The region’s first “short” fund – inversely replicating the SOFIX index.
- The first Bulgarian fund investing in global artworks.
- The first Bulgarian ETF that passively tracks the price of gold.

We continue to invest our efforts and initiatives towards improving the financial literacy in Bulgaria through a series of free educational webinars, individual meetings, and lectures on the topics of personal savings and investing in the financial markets. We also continue our strong internship program which has welcomed over 150 students from universities from around the world, as well as high school students.
For the future 15 years, our ambitions and ideas will grow even stronger. We are determined to establish Expat Capital’s position within the international landscape and to position Bulgaria on the European capital markets map as a fund and investment industry center.
